SHPE-ROC Members and Friends,

SHPE is a national, non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California with more than 6,000 members nationwide. It was formed in 1974 to help promote the entry of Hispanics into science and engineering. Today, the organization has over 40 professional chapters and 200 student chapters whose members act as role models, mentors, and tutors for students at all levels of their academic careers. The Rochester Chapter (SHPE-ROC) was organized in 1987 by nine Rochester Hispanic professionals. SHPE-ROC endeavors to assist its members in their professional development and to promote the education of Hispanic youth, particularly in the fields related to engineering , math and science.
